Knowledge is...
In fact, knowledge without admission of humility simply builds unpenetrable walls.
Just for today, admit you don't know something.

Here is a Novel Ideal
That's right..
How often do we try to insert ourseleves in other people's journeys...not only is this bad for their recovery, it is bad for ours!
Focusing on others is a way to avoid self-discovery and growth.
Just for today, don't miss an opportunity to refrain from talking.

Move Your Feet
At least when it comes to the recovering brain.
God can only help those who are willing to put their feet where their brains need to be.
Just for Today, stop waiting for your brain to change while you are locked in your room or sitting alone in front of the television. Go to a meeting. Go for a walk. Shift your perspective. Do that every day for the rest of your life, even for a minute, and, then, your brain will graciously follow, rather than being tugged around like a ton of bricks.

Let Someone Else Take Charge
On the flip side, have you ever considered what it would be like to let someone else be "in charge" for a day?
What would be the fear in doing so?
Is it that we fear we will lose the job or, worse, lose the attention? Perhaps it is that we fear that what lies beneath is just nothing to "write home about," so to speak, and so we have to spend time focusing on what everyone else is doing or not doing so nobody will get "inside" of us.
What if, however, letting the control go, even for a day, would add things to our lives instead of robbing us of them?
Things like, say, peace of mind. A release from the "need to be right" tightness in your chest?
Time to do something nice for yourself? Wow, these things seem really PAINFUL don't they?
Or just unfamiliar....
Just for today, let someone else take the lead for a change. You might be surprised just how long they've been waiting their turn.

Re-review
BOTH will remind you of why you got sober, or, at least, why you are thinking about it...

Take a Chance
You know what I do when I want to clear my path and move in a more abundant direction, but can't seem to get past my fears about doing what may seem to others like the smallest things?
I think about someone I know or have met alone the way that has impressed me with their bravery, their willingness to go beyond their comfort zone and to rise out of the ashes.
And then I tell myself, if he/she can do it, I can find the strength to rise above, to challenge myself, to leap across the waters once again.
And then, once I succeed, I make sure to send a prayer or positive energy out to him/her into the universe...after all, that person trailblazed the waters for me to make it another day.
Just for today, think about someone who has led the way in your life and set an example of exactly what IS possible in the world. Then send out a thank you to him/her and go out there and challenge yourself in the person's honor!

Back in the Saddle
Depending on your perspective...
Just for today, stand on top of a table top and view the world from a different angle. Funny how it looks different, isn't it? The same is true of your thinking. You have the power to change your own destiny.

If
If you MUST DO something NOW, don't.
Or at the very least, wait.
Just for Today, wait until you know that you can do it OR not, and be okay with letting the chips fall where they may.

Beware of the "B" Word
So is the illusion of boredom.
Lack of drama is not equal to boredom.
Serenity is not boring.
This will take a loooong time to learn, however, so until you learn it, don't sit still.
Just for today: Be active until the moment you realize that boredeom is a choice, not a reality.

You can do it
Today's Inspiration for ya: Okay, so I went to bikram today and there was a woman there who was morbidly obese. She had just started going to bikram and has been five times in four days and talked about making a committment to change her life. If others can find their weak links and take steps to change, WE CAN TOO.

So What?
if you don't get your way.
If it doesn't work out, it's not a good fit.
Jobs, relationships, rewards and regrets
These come and go.
What it true is your core
Your authenticity
Your pliability
The extent to which you can digest the good and expell the bad, learning the whole way through.
Besides, recovery is all about trusting that if not this, something much better is just around the corner.
Just for Today, if something doesn't work out as you planned..the job, the girl, the _______________, then practice the faith that abundance beyond your wildest dreams is just beyond the next door that opens.

How Important Is It?
especially when it means losing...
something or someone else.
Despite what we've been taught,
letting others know we know what is right is not helpful; especially since we didn't know what was right for us to begin with.
Getting sober means forgetting about being the boss and digesting a better way of living.
A way that doesn't always mean we are right, but that, no matter what, we can FEEL alright.
Just for today, let someone else prove you wrong. You will be surprised at how much more you will like yourself afterwards...

The Solution
The pain of making that same mistake over and over is there as well.
Sometimes, that decision is not as easy as one might think,
but the choice can be life or death,
relationship or none,
forgiveness or resentment,
clinging or letting go...
Just for today, live in the solution whether you want to or not.

Back on Track
When you can't find your way through the fog, you are most likely being protected from something that you aren't yet ready to see.
Give it time.
It will come.
The fog will lift and you will find your center again.
If we were always centered, then what would be interesting about the journey?
Just for today, Don't pick up the self-loathing stick and, instead, find something to laugh about instead. Time will pass whether you choose to have fun or not.

Be Consistent
Your disease is like a potent poisin doing one-armed push-ups, building up strength, and wating to attack you through every step of your recovery process. Inconsistency is one of that monster's favorite ways to sneak inside and sabatoge your best recovery efforts.
So how can you remain consistent in your recovery?
-Go to the same meetings as often as possible
-Be in touch with familiar people and don't compartmentalize your thoughts and feelings
-Don't spend too much time alone with yourself, especially in the first year of recovery, as your brain is most likely the only "person" who has ever REALLY tried to kill you.
-Find and keep a comfortable routine with work, exercise, meetings, play-time, etc.
The key here is that you want to remain strong, to build your new muscle memory up enough to protect you from the "cunning, baffling, powerful" and patient disease of addiction.

When you are Afraid
Hug yourself.
Literally, wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a hug.
We spend too much of our valuable time in life waiting for others to make us feel better.
We aren't children anymore, even though we might feel like it sometimes.
We are adults who need love.
And most of that love HAS GOT to come from inside.
The rest will flow in a fashion beyond your wildest dreams.
